ABOUT US
Our bees are the most important part of our business, without them we wouldn't have a business. For that reason (and because we just love them!) we take great care to make sure they are healthy and happy. We do not treat our colonies, we believe that our bees should be the strongest they can be...genetically. If a feral colony can make it in the age of Varroa (parasitic mites) then our colonies should be able to as well. We will help them along if needed, but our focus is on choosing genetics that show good traits against Varroa. It's out there we just need to be selective.

THE BUSY BEES

Decker Apiaries is a family owned business dedicated to sustainable beekeeping practices and the production of high quality honey and hive products. Our founders, Carl and Kim, are committed to the well being of pollinators and the environment. With a passion for beekeeping, they ensure the health and productivity of our hives.
Carl Decker
Beekeeper
Carl is a passionate beekeeper and some would say he pampers his bees. He loves working the hives and building strong colonies. Carl is starting to learn queen rearing so that we can help spread strong genetics to other beekeepers in Michigan. Carl runs the production hives at Decker Apiaries.

Kim Blair
Beekeeper
Kim has more than 12 years experience keeping bees both in San Diego, CA and in southeastern MI. She has worked with beekeepers in the US, Europe and Asia learning other's techniques. She loves honey tasting and runs the classes and the host a hive program offered at Decker Apiaries.

OUR PRODUCTS
At Decker Apiaries, we take pride in our pure, raw honey and a variety of hive products. Our commitment to ethical and natural beekeeping methods results in the finest quality honey, beeswax, and propolis. We are dedicated to providing our customers with the best nature has to offer.

OUR FLOWERS
In addition to keeping healthy happy bees, we support all native pollinators. For that reason we also propagate native Michigan plants in support of both honey bees and native pollinators. We offer a variety of pollinator friendly plants, shrubs and trees. We can also suggest plants and help design pollinator gardens. We work with local pollinator clubs and support the revitalization of pollinator landscapes.
